Born in Moscow, Alexey Bashkirov spent his early childhood in the Netherlands and Sweden due to his father’s diplomatic service. Sports were a defining part of his youth—especially hockey, where he became a lifelong CSKA supporter. He also practiced fencing, karate, and swimming.
A key influence in his life was his older brother, who built a successful finance career starting as a trader at Citibank. Inspired by that path, Alexey pursued international economics at MGIMO and graduated in 1999. He later earned his CFA certification and is fluent in English. Today, he continues to expand his horizons—currently learning Italian—and resides in Moscow.
